Week 34 | 366.2016

Hey hey. I haven't been writing much, just posting photos. Staying on top of my 365, as well as doing a little countdown to Thanksgiving and posting a photo on FB each day showing something I am grateful for. I have not been shooting much as far as film- I will do another post soon with some of my recent scans, and explain what has happened on that front. I am ready to put myself out there further and take on more paid work. I am going to reach out to some people I know to see if they would be willing to let me do a "day in the life" session of their family, and also hope to try some more traditional family portrait sessions. That is not something I had planned to focus on in the past, but in my market, when people think about hiring a photographer, that is what they imagine. I believe I would be able to tweak that a little and add some genuine moments and emotions that are not always captured in traditional portrait sessions. I don't think many people understand what family documentary photography would look like and why they would want that, so I am excited to try to integrate that into what I will be shooting. What I am learning as I try new things is that no matter what I shoot, the resulting images still look like "me". I was especially surprised in shooting a wedding recently that when I looked at the photos, I think you could still tell that I took them- even though the subject matter is vastly different than what I usually shoot. So I am happy to feel like I have a pretty consistent voice and vision.
